The Getchell Agency, Inc. serves children and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities who require 24/7 residential support services funded by MaineCare Section 21 Home and Community based waiver funding. Our consumers range in age from 12 years old to senior citizens. We work with people with a wide variety of disabilities including: mental retardation, mental health, autism, down's syndrome, diabetes, cerebral palsy, seizure disorders, PTSD, depression, eating disorders, ADHD, and bipolar disorder.

whoweserve2The agency strongly encourages prospective consumers and guardians to schedule a visit with a member of the agency's management team prior to or at the time of submitting an application. The purpose of such visits is to help perspective consumers and guardians learn more about the agency – its mission, philosophy and values, review funding options, and tour one of the agency's homes. At the meeting, prospective consumers and guardians are also provided a list of guardian references. If and when the consumer or guardian request placement at The Getchell Agency, Inc., a pre-placement meeting is scheduled involving the consumer's DHHS Individual Support Coordinator, guardian, and agency representatives.

The team involved makes decisions about staffing, how best to meet the specialized needs of the consumer, the compatibility of potential housemates, other details specific to the living environment, and the logistics and timing of moving in the consumer.
